Starting with the main focal point of any room; the bed can be designed so sleeping the pirate way can be easy. From Pirates of the Caribbean-themed sheets to do-it-yourself decorations, something can be made on any budget. For rooms with bunk beds, purchase a casting net at a discount store (white one or one without weights). Tie it on the outside of the beds so it covers both the top and bottom beds.

Next, find some cardboard and draw/trace a pirate ship’s steering wheel on the cardboard and cut-out. The steering wheel can either be left as-is, or can be covered in a dark fabric. Attach to rope using twist ties from trash bag or clear cable ties. Rope can be attached to be using cable ties. This method also works for single beds, although the netting may need to be folded over or draped multiple times to avoid touching the ground. If cardboard is unavailable, a poster board laminated for reinforcement, will work just fine.

For moms for grandmas that like to sew, sewers can create Pirates of the Caribbean-themed throw pillows, blankets and pajamas using fabrics incorporating elements of the movie. While official Pirates of the Caribbean sheets are sold, throw pillows, drapery accents, chair covers and other handmade items can be created using fabrics which include: pirate skulls, compasses, tribal prints, Asian motifs/writing, swords, ships. If more than one bookshelf is desired, consider purchasing a Pirates of the Caribbean poster to display between the two shelves as a movie tie-in.

Those that are better artists may want to create their own artwork. While Pirates of the Caribbean lithographs are available for purchase, a pirate-banner is a nice accent piece that can be customized based on wall dimensions. Whether a sewer or not, this banner can be created by purchasing some black billowy-type of fabric (loose to replicate a sail) and some pirate-themed scrap-booking stickers. Hint: check the remnants’ bins to locate a lower-priced cut of fabric. Sew banner or glue together and attach stickers.
